FYI
hotels in ktm are great, but tea houses are basic- unheated and more spartan as the altitude increases. hot showers and power sockets not always available, and ,where there is, there is usually a charge for use.
food is mostly locally-sourced and really tasty. be aware that locals frown upon wasting food. rest-assured, you won't go hungry.
tap water, even in ktm, is NOT safe for westerners to drink without sterilising, so bring tablets or a steripen.
